Our Three Predictions For Watford vs Oxford United
- Prediction 1 – Both sides to score – 61/100
- Prediction 2 – Over 2.5 goals scored – 17/25
- Prediction 3 – Watford to win – 11/4
Above are our expert selected odds from the best sports betting sites in the UK.
First Prediction For Watford vs Oxford United – Both Sides To Score – 61/100
Both sides have struggled for clean sheets this season, with Watford having just two so far, with both coming at Vicarage Road. Oxford meanwhile have four, with their most recent being in their last game against Hull City, however again all of those results came at the Kassam Stadium. Both sides are averaging over a goal a game this season, with The Hornets at 1.57 and The U’s at 1.21. Their goals conceded mirror their goals scored averages and they are two of the three sides in the Championship with 0 goal difference.
Second Prediction For Watford vs Oxford United – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 17/25
Watford are hot in the goals at the moment, but their total in the last five games has been highly inflated by their 6-2 win over Sheffield Wednesday last week. United have been fairly consistent, scoring once in four of the last five and the only shutout came against breakaway league leaders Sunderland. The home side have scored less than once on just two occasions at Vicarage Road, so should deliver some results as they return to Hertfordshire.
Third Prediction For Watford vs Oxford United – Watford To Win – 11/4
Tom Cleverley’s side are a completely different beast when it comes to playing at home. They rank fourth in the second tier for points at their own stadium, only bettered by Sunderland, Leeds United and Sheffield United. Oxford’s away record does make for grim reading, ranking 22nd of the 24 teams. They are yet to win on their travels, just delivering two points from six matches. The form for both hints that The Hornets will continue to make Vicarage Road a fortress.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head
Watford come back home not in the greatest form but are the better-performing side over recent matches compared to their foes. The 6-2 win over Sheffield Wednesday did show some semblance of the early-season Hornets that took a very early lead in the league but have since slipped back into the pack to be in fifth place. It has been three losses and two wins over the last six, also gaining a positive result against Blackburn Rovers. Their midweek game did not go to plan, knocking out their momentum with Swansea City delivering a sucker punch through Brentford loanee Myles Peart-Harris.
Oxford United have broken their eight-game winless streak over midweek with a win over Hull City. Whilst that says they have been poor, the run did contain five draws on the bounce which have left them 17th in the Championship and are five points clear of the drop zone in their first season back in the Championship this century. Mark Harris is leading the club’s scoring charts but found himself dropped to the bench against The Tigers in favour of Tottenham Hotspur loanee Dane Scarlett.
The two sides have only played once in recent memory in an EFL Cup clash, with the match ending 1-1 at the Kassam Stadium. Daniel Bachmann was the hero of the night, stopping all three of The U’s penalties whilst his Hornets teammates converted theirs to send them through to the third round.
