Carlisle United boss Mike Williamson has confirmed that Harrison Biggins will miss their next League Two match against Salford City.
The midfielder was a summer signing on loan from Shrewsbury Town and has played 10 times for The Cumbrians but missed their most recent match as United were knocked out of the FA Cup in the first round by Wigan Athletic.
Calf Injury Keeps Biggins Out
Williamson discussed the calf injury that stopped the 28-year-old’s involvement at Brunton Park this weekend and gave a timeframe for his return to the News & Star.
“He’s had a scan and I think it’s low grade, so it shouldn’t be too long, but at the minute he’s not fit.
“I think we’re talking about a couple of weeks, but he’s young, he’s fit and he’s a quick healer, so it’s just day by day at the minute.”
Biggins has been a near-ever present for Carlisle since making his debut in the defeat to Bradford City at the start of September but is yet to contribute a goal or assist in a side which has found itself in an unexpected relegation scrap.
Positive News Elsewhere
Whilst the former Doncaster Rovers man will not feature when United travel to Salford, other members of the squad are in contention. Dylan McGeouch’s progress is looking positive but it may be too soon for him to be able to play The Ammies.
The club have appealed the red card handed to Ethan Robson, a recent returnee from his own injury when he was given his marching orders fourteen minutes into the game against the Latics. Callum Guy, Taylor Charters and Dan Adu-Adjei have all also made comebacks in recent games.
Writer’s View
Harrison Biggins has been a constant in the club’s league fixtures for much of the season and has kept his place even despite the change in managers at Carlisle United. Whilst certainly a blow this weekend, it is luckily a short-term absence and he could be back for their EFL Trophy game against Morecambe the following Tuesday.
