Millwall‘s injury woes could be in their final stages as Neil Harris is hopeful that two players are nearing their return.
The Lions have had tough luck when it comes to injuries this season, especially in their forward line as both Tom Bradshaw and Josh Coburn have been out, forcing the former Cambridge United boss to revert to Macaulay Langstaff, a choice he was initially not keen on, for most of their recent matches. Mihailo Ivanovic has also been an option, with the club record signing finally getting his first goal against Derby County earlier this month.
Striker Could Feature Against Burnley
Whilst the ex-Notts County man has picked up some form since becoming the starting striker at The Den, Harris could have the choice to use Josh Coburn this weekend when they face title challengers Burnley. The Middlesbrough loanee joined on deadline day but has been out of action since picking up a calf injury against Luton Town.
Coburn had played in the cup against Leeds United and Stoke City for Michael Carrick’s side, but he was sent to London and only managed two games before being ruled out of action against The Hatters.
Speaking to the South London Press, Harris revealed the situation around the former Bristol Rovers man as well as a couple of other players.
“We have a 21s game today at Bournemouth. Shaun Hutchinson will play. Adam Mayor is going to play again like he did last week.
“Hutch, if he gets through today, will be available for the weekend. Adam is a possibility for next week, but more realistic for after the international break.
“Josh Coburn is one who is the closest to being available, as well as Hutch.
“We could see Josh involved at the weekend if he comes through the week.
“Tom Brashaw and Billy Mitchell are still a bit further behind.”
Writer’s View
After going out for him at the end of the window due to Tom Bradshaw’s injury, Neil Harris could finally be able to utilise Josh Coburn again in their upcoming games. He did look like a real asset in his debut against Sheffield Wednesday but was taken out of action in the very next game. Having him available reduces the workload on Macaulay Langstaff and allows the Millwall boss to have more tactical flexibility with his choice at number nine.
