Blackburn Rovers could welcome back one of their most exciting talents as they prepare for a key midweek showdown against West Bromwich Albion.
Manager John Eustace has hinted at the possible return of winger Amario Cozier-Duberry after the 19-year-old missed Rovers’ weekend victory over Swansea City due to an ankle injury sustained in training.
Cozier-Duberry Nears Return for West Brom Game
Cozier-Duberry, who joined Blackburn Rovers on loan from Brighton, was absent from the squad during the 1-0 win over Swansea on Saturday. Tyrhys Dolan’s first-half strike was enough to secure three points for Rovers, but the absence of Cozier-Duberry left fans questioning when he might be back in action.
The England youth international, who had been close to starting the game against Swansea, picked up an ankle injury in training on Friday. Blackburn decided not to risk him in the weekend fixture, but Eustace now reveals there’s a chance he could feature in the upcoming game against West Brom at Ewood Park.
“Amario has hurt his ankle and Fadz has had a small operation on his hand. I don’t think we will have Fadz on Wednesday, maybe we will look at Amario. Obviously, he got injured in training yesterday. He was close to starting today. It is a shame for the young boy but I thought Ryan Hedges was outstanding for 60 minutes,” Eustace told the Lancashire Telegraph.
Boost for Blackburn as Play-off Push Continues
The potential return of Cozier-Duberry could provide a significant boost for Blackburn as they look to solidify their position in the Championship play-offs. The talented winger, who has made five appearances since his loan move, has impressed with his creativity and pace.
Having been allowed to leave Brighton temporarily for more game time, Cozier-Duberry has shown promise in his short spell at Ewood Park. He arrived following a stint at Arsenal, where he progressed through the Gunners’ academy, and has already become a fan favourite in Lancashire.
