MK Dons Recieve Double Injury Boost

MK Dons will have more defensive options this weekend after it was revealed two of their centre-backs have recovered from injuries.

The Buckinghamshire outfit have kept just two clean sheets this season and have already conceded 13 times so far in League Two, an average of 1.18 per match. But as they prepare to face Morecambe this weekend, both Nico Lawrence and Sam Sherring are available to play.

Back In Training

Southampton loanee Lawrence played in The Dons’ season opener against Bradford City but then underwent surgery on his knee. This stint in Milton Keynes is his second stint in the fourth tier, after playing five games for Colchester United last season.

Joining from Northampton Town this summer, Sherring has yet to feature in league action for the club, but has made his debut in a EFL Trophy game against Arsenal’s Under 21 squad.

Speaking ahead of the game against Morecambe, head coach Scott Lindsey provided an injury update for the whole squad. (Quotes via MK Citizen):

“Sam Sherring has done a full week, Nico Lawrence has done a full week as well. Scott Hogan has got minutes on the pitch as has Ellis (Harrison) after his suspension, so it’s good to have players coming back. We’re in a better place with the injuries than we were a week ago.”

Shaky Season So Far

MK Dons have struggled to recapture last season’s form which put them into the play-off places and had them tipped as favourites to secure the League Two title this season. Mike Williamson failed to get off to a good start and eventually departed for Carlisle United, leaving the door open for Scott Lindsey.

Under the former Crawley Town man they have only lost once in all competitions, coming in their last match against Port Vale.

Things have looked brighter already at Stadium MK under Scott Lindsey and receiving a double injury boost ahead of some winnable fixtures is another positive. They play two of the bottom three in the next week, and having the ability to rotate with five quality defenders now that Sherring and Lawrence have returned will be a big asset to have.
