Blackburn Rovers are reportedly looking to reignite their interest in Fulham winger Martial Godo during the January transfer window.
The Championship side were keen to sign the 21-year-old in the summer but were unable to secure a deal. According to journalist Alan Nixon, Rovers are expected to be at the front of the queue when the winter window opens.
Godo, who spent last season on loan at Wigan Athletic in League One, impressed during his time under manager Shaun Maloney, scoring four goals in 33 appearances. His performances earned him praise, and Blackburn see him as a valuable addition to strengthen their attacking options for the second half of the season. Capable of playing on either wing, Godo would provide depth and versatility to Rovers’ frontline.
Since returning to Fulham, Godo has yet to establish himself in the Premier League, but the club recently extended his contract until 2028, signalling their long-term interest in his development. Speaking to BBC Sport, Godo expressed his desire to make his Premier League debut this season and continue his growth under Fulham’s coaching staff.
“I just want to keep growing and improving around the amazing coaching staff and players at this club, giving myself the best possible chance to keep edging closer to showing the potential I have as a young player.”
Blackburn Rovers, meanwhile, have started the 2024/25 Championship season strongly. John Eustace’s side showed promising form, including a 1-1 draw against bitter rival Burnley. As they prepare to face Bristol City next, the potential addition of Godo in January could give them an extra boost as they aim for promotion.
While Blackburn must wait for the transfer window to open, their pursuit of Godo remains a top priority, as they hope to secure the services of the talented young winger.
