Lincoln City Boss Makes Player Admission

Lincoln City head coach Michael Skubala has admitted that new signing Bailey Cadamarteri brings something to his squad that he has been searching for all summer.

The England Under 19 international penned a season-long loan with the Imps last night, ending their hunt for a number nine that runs back to the end of last season. Joe Taylor left after his loan from Luton, leaving the Imps searching for a striker, a search that came to an end yesterday, much to the former Leeds coach’s delight.

“Bailey adds a set of qualities that we’ve been looking for this summer to add to our forward options with top end pace, power and a threat in behind.Skubala told Lincoln’s website.

“We need a strong department at the top end of the pitch for all types of opponent across three competitions with so many games.

“We feel that Bailey can make a real impact in League One. He has joined us for all the right reasons and we are really looking forward to working with him.”

Cadamarteri burst onto the scene last season with Sheffield Wednesday, scoring five goals in 27 outings as they fought to remain in the Championship. He won Young Player of the Month for the Championship in February, and it’s now felt he needs regular minutes to push on.

He joins a Lincoln side that is currently enjoying a decent start to the season. They’ve won two of their opening three matches and are the divisions’ leading scorers, with eight goals across those games. This weekend, they hammered local rivals Mansfield 4-1.

The Imps finished seventh in League One last season, missing out on the top six on the final day of the season, with fans hoping they go one better this time out.

Lincoln have a great track record with young players – Joe Taylor thrived, but before him, Brennan Johnson and Morgan Rogers both did well. They have a great training ground, strong coaches, and a varied approach to the game which sees two up top with a mix of long and short passing. Cadamarteri is sure to thrive there.

The big issue could be if he is a huge success and is recalled in January. However, last year, Joe Taylor didn’t arrive until winter after Jack Vale struggled, and he did alright, smashing the goals that fired the Imps up the table. He thrived playing off another striker, something likely to appeal to Cadamarteri.

Sheffield Wednesday fans love the young striker, and they see huge potential in him, as does Danny Rohl. It’s believed Rohl has taken a personal interest in the striker’s move, underlining his belief in the player’s potential.
