French club Stade Rennais are the latest club to show an interest in Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville, according to Foot Mercato.
The 22-year-old is widely tipped to leave Elland Road this summer after his stunning goal scoring antics last season. The winger hit 21 goals in all competitions as the Whites failed to earn promotion to the Premier League, losing in the play-off final against Southampton in May.
His form saw him named the Championship Player of the Season, but he has earned a number of admirers from England’s top division. Daniel Farke knows that last season’s disappointment means that several key stars could depart the club, with teenager Archie Gray having already secured a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Summerville has long been linked with a move away. The likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion are all said to be admirers, whilst it is claimed Aston Villa and Crystal Palace are the latest to join the race. There is now interest from abroad to contend with following the news that Rennes are ready to make their move.
According to reports, Rennes view the former Feyenoord youngster as a potential replacement for Désiré Doué. The 19-year-old has become one of the club’s biggest assets since breaking out of the academy in 2022 and is thought to be attracting the attention of Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.
This could land the Ligue 1 outfit a £42 million windfall, which they could then reinvest in Summerville. Leeds are said to have placed a price tag of £40 million on their talisman.
Interestingly, Rennes are in the midst of another steal from the Yorkshire-based club. Reports emerged from France over the weekend that an agreement has been struck for midfielder Glen Kamara, with the fee believed to be around £6.7 million.

Rennes’ interest may well be concrete, especially when they look set to lose such a talented player in Doué. However, the lure of the Premier League means that they must be considered outsiders in any potential deal. Although the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea are yet to show their hand, clubs such as Aston Villa can offer Champions League football and the opportunity to work with a renowned coach in Unai Emery.
That said, if Rennes do have the money to play with, they could kick start a bidding war. This would suit Leeds down to the ground. Having already received such a large sum for Gray, a similar or bigger fee for Summerville could see them begin to make waves of their own in the transfer market.
