Millwall have made further transfer advancements for Reading star Femi Azeez however the Royals have once again rejected those, according to a report by Reading Today..
It comes as no surprise to see the talented forward gaining interest from Championship outfits following a sublime season in the third tier last year. Azeez was one of the standouts in a Reading side who constantly battled against the odds to preserve their League One status.
Having had a total of six points deducted last year for the failure to pay players on time as well as HMRC issues, the Royals were certainly up against it last season. Despite plenty of off-pitch troubles with the ownership of the club as well, they’d finish a rather respectable 16th, 11 points ahead of the drop zone.
Azeez’s performances certainly helped lift Ruben Selles’ side away from the relegation zone, with the 23-year-old having what can only be described as a breakout season for the club. Over the two previous seasons, the versatile forward had turned out 33 times for Reading in the Championship, putting up two goals and two assists during that time.
He’d however take those previous numbers to a new level in League One last season, scoring eight and providing a further nine assists to his teammates. With 43 starts and three substitute appearances in the league last year, Azeez has proven himself as a key player for the Berkshire-based side, who may struggle to hold onto him this summer.
According to Reading Today, Millwall are displaying a heavy interest in the 23-year-old, and have already enquired multiple times despite the Royals wanting to keep ahold of their star, this follows on from an earlier report from the Reading Chronicle who revealed their initial enquiry.
With another year left on his contract, Azeez wouldn’t come cheap. Transfermarkt value the winger at just over £500,000 but due to his importance to the club, he may well go for more.
After a fine season in the third tier, the forward looks ready to make the step back up to the Championship. Millwall seem like a decent landing spot given how they improved under Neil Harris and adding Azeez to their ranks could spark further improvement.

If Azeez was to leave this summer, then it would be a huge loss for Reading, especially after a standout season last term. They will however be getting a decent fee for him, which could in turn be re-invested into improving the rest of the squad.
With Championship experience already to his name, he would indeed be a good pick-up for the Lions and could reach new heights. His confidence will have almost certainly been boosted last season after a strong season in the third tier and perhaps that will help him to continue his upwards trajectory into the Championship.
Don’t be surprised if there is further interest from Millwall, as well as other Championship clubs as Azeez looks as if he is one of the most exciting young wingers currently.
