Following a brilliant season for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall under Enzo Maresca, Chelsea have proclaimed major interest in the midfielder.
The 25-year-old excelled this term, helping Leicester City to the Championship title, and in turn, an immediate return to the Premier League. With this brilliant campaign, this has attracted many clubs and with the Italian departing to Chelsea, Dewsbury-Hall could follow in his footsteps.
After impressing at an academy level, the midfielder went on two loans. One was at League One side Blackpool, where he would feature on a short-term loan to finish the 2019/20 season. Due to his performances for the Tangerines, he’d earn a move to then-Championship side Luton Town the following season. He’d standout again, winning four of the club’s end-of-season awards.
Having proved his quality in the football league, the Englishmen would finally break into Leicester’s first team under Brendan Rodgers. He would offer his manager a good option with European football often limiting their options in some of the forward areas. He’d end up featuring 31 times in the Premier League for the Foxes, gaining valuable experience at the highest level of football in the process.
Once proving his worth in the top division, the 25-year-old would become a mainstay during their Championship campaign. He’d contribute 12 goals and 15 assists in all competitions under Maresca in a box-to-box role, his best season to date.
With the departure of Chelsea’s midfielder Connor Gallagher looking likely, The Sun claims that Chelsea boss Maresca would like to reunite with the Leicester star at Stamford Bridge next season.
The report states that he’d cost the Blues upwards of £40 million but the 25-year-old is supposedly top of Maresca’s wish-list to replace Gallagher. He’s also convinced that the box-to-box midfielder could make the step back up to the Premier League.

Overall, this would be a good signing for the Blues. A consistent and like-for-like swap for Gallagher is necessary after his strong influence throughout 2023/24. As for Dewsbury-Hall, he has a chance to play European football and has major trust from Maresca from their time in the East-Midlands.
The potential sale of one of their star men will certainly hurt Leicester in their return to the top flight. However, the deal may be necessary to fund other signings and to help deal with their Financial Fair Play issues.
