“I’ve Got To Cool Them Off A Little Bit!” – Crawley Town Boss Delighted After Impressive Victory

Scott Lindsey says his players may need to calm down a little following their impressive 4-1 victory at Mansfield Town, according to a report in The Argus.

The Red Devils recorded a fourth straight-away win at Field Mill on Saturday, damaging the host’s promotion hopes while enhancing their own playoff chances.

Lindsey’s men have won with of their last 11 matches to move into the top seven, three points ahead of both AFC Wimbledon and Walsall with five games left.

They have been impressive at both ends of the pitch during that run, scoring 20 times and only conceding six goals.

Goals from Kellan Gordon, Nick Tsaroulla, Danilo Oris and Klaidi Lolos guided Crawley to victory over Nigel Clough’s promotion chasers.

Lindsey was pleased with the quality of the goals his side scored but was unhappy with their quality in possession. He was happier with the second half showing, saying, “Second half I thought we were outstanding and managed things much better.”

Having been tipped by many, including The Real EFL writers, Crawley has been very impressive this season and will be desperate to secure a spot in the end-of-season lottery.

The former Swindon Town manager said, “The players have been outstanding and they were outstanding again today with the effort they put in.”

Attention for Lindsey and his men is a trip to Wales to face second-placed Wrexham. The Red Dragons have a strong home record this season, losing only three times. However, Crawley’s away record is the third-best in the division.

Following Saturday’s result on the road, Lindsey insists his players are looking forward to Tuesday’s vital showdown at The STōK Cae Ras.

“Confidence is really high. If anything I’ve got to cool them off a little bit. We can’t wait to get to Wrexham on Tuesday now.”

Writer’s View

Having narrowly avoided relegation to the National League last season, Crawley have performed consistently this season and have put themselves in control of their own destiny.

Making the top seven will be a great achievement for the men from Sussex, picking up a positive result in Wales will be a huge leap to achieving this.

Huge credit must go to the manager and staff at the Broadfield Stadium for a season that twelve months ago would have been hard to foresee.
