Doncaster Rovers Boss Reacts To Latest Win

Grant McCann was elated with the mood around Doncaster Rovers as they won their sixth straight match in League Two.

The South Yorkshire club beat Morecambe 3-0 on the road to move them into the top half of the table for the first time this season.

Luke Molyneux netted an early brace to put Rovers in the driving seats in Lancashire, before Tommy Rowe secured the win in stoppage time.

Doncaster have lost just once since February, quashing any potential relegation fears from earlier on in the campaign.

Speaking to club media following the game at the Mazuma Stadium, Grant McCann admitted he was nervous with the premature celebrations from the fans, saying: “I felt they were a little bit too early with seven or eight minutes to go. I started panicking when I heard that.

“Our fans are confident as well at the minute, we’re confident and it’s a great place to be.”

The hot streak extends to both ends of the pitch, with only one solitary goal conceded during the streak in the 2-1 win over Swindon Town.

Commenting on the preparation from the win over Wrexham, the Northern Irish manager said: “We had to be careful with them leading into this one – making sure we got the recovery protocols right and the right amount of time on the training ground after the Wrexham game.

“We had quite a bit of work in the analysis room to put a plan in place to try to get a result and it’s worked out, which is really pleasing.”

Their run continues when they welcome Walsall to the Eco-Power Stadium on Tuesday. They also play Accrington Stanley, Barrow, Colchester United and Gillingham to see out their season.

The Saddlers beat Tranmere Rovers on the weekend, who are still in with a chance of reaching the play-offs.

Doncaster have come alive at arguably the perfect time. Whilst their play-off hopes are effectively over, they are building a great momentum and look to be promising going into next season.

Whilst the aims of this season fell by the wayside fairly quickly, Grant McCann will have reason for optimism going into 2025. Hakeeb Adelakun is the league’s in-form player at the moment so should Rovers make his loan permanent they will have a very dangerous frontline.
