“Read The Room” – Blackpool Fans Are Not Happy After Club’s Social Media Post

Blackpool had a two-season stay in the Championship, but it looks like their stint in League One will last at least as long.

Neil Critchley’s side have been around the play-offs for much of the season, but as we meander into the final five games of the campaign, they’ve lost their way. They were just a point outside the top six on March 12th, but one point in three games has left them looking up and wondering what might have been.

They’re without a goal in three matches, and they were left looking like April Fools after being held to a 0-0 draw by Wycombe yesterday. The gap between them and Lincoln City, in sixth, is now six points, which is a lot to haul back with five games to go. There’s a certain irony that the club they pipped to a place in the Championship in 2021 are now the club that looks likely to steal the final play-off spot.

Supporters are clearly a little despondent right now, having seen a season of hard work go up in smoke. Jordan Rhodes is unlikely to feature again this season, leaving the shot-shy Tangerines in a challenging position.

That hasn’t stopped the club’s social media from putting out content, and why would it? On this day in 2021, as they climbed the table en route to beating the Imps at Wembley, they won 2-0 against Swindon Town. The club admin wanted to celebrate that with a post, but it seems it hasn’t quite gone down as intended. Instead of getting the plaudits for what was a great performance three years ago, fans have been left bewildered at how good they were then compared to now.

One supporter even likened it to the game show Bullseye, where for younger readers, the top prize used to be revealed at the end, even when the contestant hadn’t won! That’s where we start our roundup of the replies.
