Opinion: Leeds United Should Secure Two Loanees For Summer PL Preparations

With the March international break almost at an end, Leeds United fans can begin gearing back up for what has been a very impressive and enjoyable first season under manager Daniel Farke.

44 games into his tenure at Elland Road, the 47-year-old German gaffer has picked up 28 wins, with nine draws, and the club find themselves sat in top spot in the second tier table, joint on 82 points with Leicester City, albeit the Foxes do have a game in hand on them.

Their odds of securing promotion back to the Premier League in the 2023/24 campaign are incredibly high, as at this late stage of the season, they are a full 24 points clear of seventh-placed Hull City, and if I have got my games in hand right, they are on the cusp of being mathematically guaranteed a Championship Play-Off spot as an absolute worst case scenario and recommended football bookmaker highlighted options could be of help to some.

With their form in 2024 being 12 wins out of 13 league games, they will not be looking at the Play-Offs and a trip to Wembley, though; they will have their eyes on that title.

For most Leeds fans this will only encourage them to cast one eye towards the 2024/25 campaign and what their potential business might be in the summer transfer window. There has already been plenty of talk surrounding the fact that we would like to strike a permanent deal for 26-year-old on loan Welsh international Joe Rodon, but any deal with Tottenham Hotspur would likely be in the £15 million region, but in his 38 starting appearances for them so far this year, he has more than justified that kind of transfer expenditure on him.

With other claims suggesting that talks have already at least been tentative with both Spurs and Rodon about the future, it is now being claimed that Leeds also want to secure a permanent deal for Connor Roberts. The 28-year-old fellow Welsh international made the switch to the club in the January transfer window on a loan spell from Burnley, but he has only made two starts, with seven more league showings coming as a substitute. However, it is being claimed that he has impressed enough in those appearances for Leeds to want to bring him on board properly come the summer.

In fairness, the player is probably best known for his very impressive moustache, more than his game time under Farke right now, and he recently explained that although it began as a joke between him and his wife, he has now played around 25 Championship games since he grew it, and he is yet to lose. It is one of the stranger superstitions in the professional game, but it is certainly not the only one.

If their interest in Roberts is accurate, despite the lack of starts, it is believed that he has very quickly gelled with the rest of the group and become a popular member in their dressing room despite him barely being with them for two months yet, but should they achieve their dream of a Premier League return at the first time of asking, for the right price, he has top-flight experience, so he could be a very safe signing indeed.
