Charlton Athletic manager Nathan Jones has issued a triple boost to the club’s fans with the news that Kayne Ramsey, Lloyd Jones and Chuks Aneke are all closing in on a return to action.
Defender Ramsay joined the Addicks from League Two side Harrogate Town at the end of January but has featured against only Lincoln City and Derby County so far, having been dealt a cruel blow with a hamstring injury.
Fellow defender Jones has played 32 times this season following his move from Cambridge United last summer. He hasn’t appeared since the victory over Cheltenham Town earlier this month though.
Finally, striker Aneke has appeared in just 10 games for the League One club this season, scoring one goal but recording two assists in the process. He hasn’t been seen since the end of February.
Charlton’s last match before the international break saw them draw 1-1 with relegation candidates Fleetwood Town which came as a relatively disappointing surprise. The team will be keen to put this right away at Exeter City on Good Friday.
Speaking to the club’s official website, head coach Jones was buoyant over the trio returning:
“They’re all much closer than what they were before the break, so the squad’s in a much healthier position.”
“What we’ve been able to do is rest up a few, get one or two back and then put some real good work into the players which was essential, especially in the early stages.
“We’ve been here for seven weeks so to be able to have two free weeks to work with them… hopefully we see the fruition of that.”
Charlton Athletic have sold out their allocation for tomorrow’s game against Exeter City, leading Jones to praise the fans for their contribution since he’s been at the helm.
“The fans are brilliant.
“They’re so positive, the energy they bring… they’re just magnificent. This will be my 10th game and there’s seven away games! They’ve been vocal at every game and they’ve driven the team on. We’re coming to expect that now, but we don’t take that for granted.”
Jones’ side face a tough double-header as they travel to St James Park tomorrow before hosting play-off chasing Stevenage on Easter Monday.

The trio have returned at just the right time for Jones and Charlton Athletic, with merely seven games remaining it will be all hands to the pump for the Addicks as they look to finish the season as strongly as possible.
The new manager has been a breath of fresh air since coming in, signing experienced players like Kazenga Lualua and Connor Wickham. It will be a big summer for the London club as they look to kick on next season.
