Queens Park Rangers are reportedly close to completing a deal outside of the transfer window as head coach Marti Cifuentes looks to bolster his squad ahead of a gruelling relegation battle.
Following an impressive 2-1 away victory against Blackburn Rovers at the weekend, QPR have managed to stay alive in the battle for survival, with 21st-place Huddersfield Town also picking up an impressive 4-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday.

Rangers didn’t have the busiest of transfer windows but still managed to improve certain areas of the squad, including in the middle of the park, signing Joe Hodge and Isaac Hayden on loans until the end of the campaign, while Swiss striker Michael Frey moved to Loftus Road on a permanent transfer.
However, despite the January window closing on Thursday night, QPR’s business may not be finished just yet. According to Tipsbladet in Denmark, via Football League World, the London outfit are close to signing Denmark international Lucas Andersen on a free.
The 29-year-old winger spent almost five years with Danish side AaB where he was managed by Cifuentes during the 2021/22 campaign before the Spanish coach left midway through the season to join Hammarby in Sweden.
Andersen left AaB on Friday following a mutual termination of his contract but Tipsbladet are now claiming that the attacker is set to reunite with his former boss at Queens Park Rangers.
The experienced Dane has had a fruitful career, winning the Eredivisie twice with European giants Ajax while recording 119 goal contributions in 396 appearances overall since the start of the 2010/11 campaign.

Queens Park Rangers boast the third-fewest number of goals in the Championship this term, having scored just 27 times in 30 matches. Andersen’s arrival could help boost these numbers as the forward can both score goals and create chances.
Furthermore, Cifuentes has worked with the player before which is certainly a bonus and will know exactly what strengths he will bring to the team. Given this is a free transfer, it could be a very wise signing by Rangers.
