Coventry City Boss Reveals Length Of Time Out For Influential Midfield Star

On the eve of their FA Cup fourth-round replay against Sheffield Wednesday, Mark Robins has given an update on a key player in Coventry City’s season so far.

Midfielder Ben Sheaf, who has been instrumental in the Sky Blues first half of the season, is out for anything between six to eight weeks.

Sheaf was injured in the clash with Bristol City in December, where he suffered a hamstring injury.

The 26-year-old had made 22 appearances so far, chipping in with three goals and was certainly one of the first names on the team sheet each week, such has been his influential play.

Talking to the club’s official website and reported by The72, manager Robins said. “Ben will be out for six to eight weeks. It’s disappointing but it is what it is.”

A product of West Ham United’s academy he furthered his learning with Arsenal. The early part of his career was on loans to Stevenage and Doncaster Rovers. After the same deal sent him to Coventry in 2020, he then signed a permanent deal with the club.

Currently under contract until 2026, Robins will have to continue to make adjustments to his side. After a great run of 12 games unbeaten, they finally tasted defeat to Norwich City at the weekend, a result that saw them drop out of the playoff places.

Immediate focus will be on the FA Cup, and a tie against a team that they beat in the league a fortnight ago before a 1-1 draw forced a replay.

Mark Robins has worked Coventry City into a very favourable position after a slow start. The experience of losing in the Championship Playoff Final last year will have them hungry for more. The return of Ben Sheaf will be needed, but the club will be careful not to rush him back, and if results remain on the plus side, they will feel no urgency. But, his return, when he does, could be a springboard for greater success.
