Crewe Alexandra boss Lee Bell is positive that he will be able to bring in some new faces ahead of their weekend fixture against Mansfield Town.
The Cheshire side have exceeded pre-season expectations to find themselves in a play-off spot in the new year.
Following a 1-0 win at Gresty Road against Bradford City, The Railwaymen play Mansfield Town, with just eight points seperating the two.
The reverse fixture saw Crewe Alexandra claw back from 2-0 down to claim a point on the opening day with Mickey Demetriou and Rio Adebisi on the scoresheet.
Nigel Clough’s side have lost just once all season in League Two, the lowest of any team and will be one of the toughest tests for any team to face.
Ahead of the visit to the One Call Stadium, Bell was confident about having the squad bolstered ahead of Saturday.
Speaking to the press following the victory over the Bantams, he said: “I’ve spoken to two players and had a really good meeting with one, who has a decision to make.
“It looks like we have got the other one done and hopefully he will join us on Wednesday.
“We could also be down the line with another target – we are just waiting to hear back from his parent club. Until they are signed you don’t know, but we are working hard.”
Crewe have currently used up three of their loan slots, with goalkeeper Harvey Davies from Liverpool, Joe White from Newcastle United and Aaron Rowe from Huddersfield Town.
EFL clubs are allowed a maximum of eight loans, with only five allowed in one matchday squad.

It is good news for any Crewe fan to see more faces joining the squad at a pivotal point for the club. Very few would have expected for the club to be in the top seven, with us at The Real EFL expecting the Alex to come 19th this season. The consistency as solidity they have shown throughout the campaign has demonstrated they thoroughly deserve to be in this position, and new faces could keep the momentum going to bring play-off football in May.
Mansfield Town is a great opportunity to lay down the gauntlet to other teams that Crewe’s chances are real. The Stags have only lost once all season against Swindon Town, and getting a result away will be a good scalp. Ending a resurgent Bradford’s unbeaten run is a marker of their ability under Bell, and overcoming Mansfield will surely better last week’s win.
