Fleetwood Town are reportedly looking to strike a deal for Leeds United midfielder Darko Gyabi, as reported by The Athletic.
The teenage midfielder only joined Leeds from Premier League champions Manchester City last summer, but his future at Elland Road is still to be arranged, with the club looking to loan him out. Gyabi is attracting interest from around the EFL, and Scott Brown is looking to bring the midfielder in before the window closes tonight.
Since joining, he has featured for the senior five times, mostly appearing for the under-21 side at the club. His standout performances had left him hoping he could be given a chance in the first team following the club’s relegation from the Premier League. However, the arrival of Glenn Kamara has seen him fall down the pecking order with the club, but they have reportedly rejected a bid from French side Valenciennes, believed to be worth around £4 million.
The 19-year-old was part of the team that played Shrewsbury Town in the EFL Cup, but a disappointing first-half performance saw him substituted off at half-time, and Archie Grey has moved ahead of him.
Leeds are looking for an immediate return to the Premier League, so they would most likely prefer to have experience in their first-team, as seen by their signing of Glenn Kamara. Meanwhile, Fleetwood have endured a difficult start to the season, having picked up just one point in their opening five games.

Gyabi is highly rated by Leeds, as seen by their reluctance to see him leave permanently. However, with how tough the Championship looks this season, they will want to go in with the strongest squad possible, and chances would be hard to come by for Gyabi. A loan spell in League One could see him grow to the level they want him to be at, and should they get promoted, another loan spell in the Championship could follow next season or even a chance to break into the first team at Elland Road.
