Barnsley and Oxford United have reportedly joined the race for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harvey White, according to Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke.
The Premier League side are willing to let the 21-year-old go out on loan before the window closes today, and it has alerted a number of second and third tier clubs in the country.
The two League One outfits would have to better offers from the Championship, however, as West Brom and Luton have also been credited with an interest in the player. The club and the player are currently assessing their options for the player for the remainder of this season.
White made his debut for the senior team at Tottenham at the beginning of this month, featuring in the teams convincing 4-0 victory over Crystal Palace. During his career he has only been out on loan once, spending the 2020-21 season in the third division with Portsmouth, making 21 appearances and scoring once.
He has been a mainstay in the PL2 with Tottenham’s reserve team this season, featuring 10 times, wearing the captain’s armband on a number of occasions and scoring once.

White is a promising young midfielder, he primarily plays as a defensive midfielder but has been known to play further forward in the middle, as well as being able to fill in as a left-back.
His versatility is something that brings a lot to the table for any team that acquires his signature, and it is clear someone at Tottenham values him as a leader, evidenced by his time holding the armband with the reserves.
For Barnsley and Oxford though, it is difficult to see them acquiring this signature with Championship clubs interested, as well as the player having already developed in League One before, both the club and player may feel it is time to gain some experience in the second division.
Barnsley fans, do you feel you could secure Harvey White?
