Newport County are in talks to take Manchester United Striker Charlie McNeil on loan for the rest of the season according to TEAMtalk.
McNeil is currently under contract at Premier League giants Manchester United where he plays as a striker in the under-23 side. He has featured 17 times this year in the Premier League 2 contributing to six goals. The forward is now being linked with a whole host of clubs with the latest being Newport County who are looking to strike a deal to bring him to Rodney Parade.
Newport have had a disappointing season as they currently sit 19th five points off the drop zone, with the club eyeing improvements to help move them away from the relegation fight. The Exiles are in the market to strengthen due to losing key players this window and needing to replace them.
McNeil joined Manchester United in July 2021 from rivals Manchester City. In last year’s Premier League, 2 Charlie hit five goal contributions in 13 games. This led to Erik Ten Hag handing Charlie his Manchester United debut in the Europa League against Real Sociedad, he was also rewarded with an appearance on the bench away at FC Sheriff.

Personally, this would be an incredible coup for Newport he is a fantastic player with an excellent youth history. Charlie has received lots of interest from some top clubs in the EFL this window as he looks set to try and test himself in the men’s game. With Newport needing reinforcements I think he would add well to their team.
