Ipswich Linked With Move For Premier League Starlet

Ipswich Town have joined a race involving several Championship sides for 19-year-old Manchester United youngster Charlie McNeil, according to Football League World.

McNeil, is currently under contract at Premier League giants Manchester United where he is mainly used as a striker in the under-23 side. He has featured 17 times this year in the Premier League 2 contributing to six goals. The forward is now being linked with League One promotion hopefuls Ipswich as well as a host of Championship sides including Preston North End.

Ipswich seem to be in the market to strengthen their attack in a bid for the title, they have already added George Hirst on loan from Leicester City and Nathan Broadhead from Everton after his loan spell was cut short at Championship side Wigan Athletic.

Ipswich currently sit third in League One, with Kieran Mckenna eyeing improvements to his side to bring the fight to fellow title contenders Plymouth Argyle and Sheffield Wednesday.

McNeil joined Manchester United in July 2021 from rivals Manchester City. In last year’s Premier League, 2 Charlie hit five goal contributions in 13 games. This led to Erik Ten Hag handing Charlie his Manchester United debut in the Europa League against Real Sociedad, he was also rewarded with an appearance on the bench away at FC Sheriff.

Writer’s view…
I think that Charlie has the potential to be a brilliant addition to Ipswich’s ranks with the injuries to Tyreece John-Jules and potentially help them kick on in their fight for the title. Ipswich have become a transformed side this year compared to previous seasons and the credit goes to Kieran McKenna who has worked wonders since leaving Manchester United and could tempt a United player to The Tractor Boys.

Ipswich fans, Would you take McNeil at your club?
