Charlton Athletic Ace Attracting Interest

Charlton Athletic Ace Jordan Stockley has been attracting interest from League Two Gillingham and League One clubs according to The South London Press.

Stockley, 29, is currently contracted to League One Charlton Athletic where he plays primarily as a striker. He has featured in 27 games this season, contributing to six goals in that time. The forward is now being linked to League Two Gillingham who are in the market to boost their attacking threats after their new owner spoke of his ambition in the transfer window. They have already signed Tom Nichols from relegation rivals Crawley Town.  There is also reported interest from League One clubs and from abroad.

Jayden Joined Charlton in January 2021 from Championship side Preston North End, he was originally sent out on loan but this was made permanent by Charlton. In last years season he hit 13 goals in 33 games in League One.

Charlton currently sit 17th in League One, following the sacking of Ben Garner. With new manager Dean Holden looking to find his assess the squad, with a decision on Stockley looking like it has already been made.

Gillingham currently sit in 24th in the league having scored only 7 goals all season, the lowest in England’s fop four divisions. Manager Neil Harris will be hoping Stockley can add some much needed firepower alongside Tom Nichols’ consistent assists. The addition of Andy Hessenthaler and Kenny Jackett to the club’s staff will ensure a consistent and active approach to move the club forward follwing the significant investment made.

I believe that Jayden, would be a fantastic addition for Gillingham and would massively help them in their survival bid. I think due to the lack of goals in the Gillingham team he could help add to this. Not only this he brings a lot else to the table with his hold up play and ability to allow others to play off him. He’s also a well known name in lower league football so should get the fans excited. 


Gillingham are also in the market to add more recruits into their side this window, having added Tom Nichols from fellow relegation candidates Crawley.
