Imps Announce Capture of Championship Defender

Lincoln City has today announced the signing of 21-year-old defender Harry Boyes from Championship side Sheffield United.

Boyes spent the first half of this season on loan at League One side Forest Green Rovers before being recalled by the Blades. During his time with the Gloucestershire side, he made 16 appearances, providing three assists for the club.

As a schoolboy, Boyes spent time under current Imps head coach Mark Kennedy during his time with Manchester City.

The wing-back made the step up to League One this season after he impressed on loan for National League side Solihull Moors during a loan spell last season.

It was thought that the defender would be seen going out on loan again this window.

This was not the first Sheffield United player to be recalled as Will Osula was recalled from fellow League One side Derby County earlier this week.

Our View

Boyes is a solid signing for the Imps and a strong start to their January transfer window, should this be just the beginning of their transfer activity.

He was an impressive mainstay in the Solihull Moors team last season, playing 36 times for the club, where he was included in the team of the season, and Moors reached the play-off final and will be looking to provide more consistent form in League One.

He can certainly make an impact within a League One side and will be looking to help a struggling Lincoln side find their way up the table.

Lincoln fans, can Harry Boyes help turn things around for the Imps?
