Grimsby Town are in the race alongside Rochdale and Northampton for non-league superstar Nick Haughton, according to GrimsbyLive
Haughton is currently an attacking midfielder for National League North side AFC Fylde and has been a force to be reckoned with so far this season, scoring 12 goals in 19 league games. With his contract expiring this summer offers from EFL clubs first to re-ignite those interests.
The attacking midfielder joined Fylde from Salford City in October 2018 after not getting much game time for the Ammies. It took him a while to get comfortable at his new club but he was soon a regular in the starting 11. Throughout the next couple of seasons he got better and better and he managed 26 league goals for his side.
Fylde are currently 6th in the National League North and they will be hoping to keep Haughton to help boost their chances of back-to-back play-off campaigns. They are on track so far this season and keeping Haughton will be a priority.
As for his potential suitors, Rochdale are currently staring down the barrel of relegation out of the football league as they sit 23rd place in League Two. The cobblers however are quite the contrary occupying the 3rd automatic promotion place in League Two and have been in good form as of late.
Another possible destination is Grimsby who are currently just below mid-table after promotion success saw them return to the football league at the first time of asking. However, they do already have quite a few players in Haughton’s natural position in midfield.

In my opinion, the most likely destination for Haughton is promotion hopefuls Northampton Town as they will need to strengthen if they want to survive in League One next season.
Grimsby already have quite a few players in midfield but the addition of Haughton would definitely help ensure their survival. Dale on the other hand, have had some financial trouble as of late so would struggle to pay a fee but could pick him up in the summer if personal terms are agreed upon.
