It’s fair to say Ipswich Town are in a rut at the moment.
Following relegation from the Championship, many fans hoped for an immediate return. Sadly, a post-Christmas collapse saw them tumble out of the top six and early curtailment of the season meant they couldn’t fight back into play-off contention.
That has left fans a little angry, both with manager Paul Lambert and the general direction of the club. Today, what would seem to be a positive announcement has once again brought a few questionable comments from the Blues’ fanbase.
They’ve decided to take up the options on the contracts of keeper Tomas Holy and midfielder Jon Nolan. Holy signed from Gillingham last summer and made 25 appearances in total, duelling with loanee Will Norris for the number one jersey. Nolan signed for the Tractor Boys back in August 2018 after spells with Chesterfield, Shrewsbury, Lincoln and Grimsby, making 53 outings in his time with the club.
Neither were particularly key players last season and today’s news has been met with indifference, particularly around former Everton trainee Nolan, who has been retained over winger Danny Rowe. That’s one point made by these supporters on social media.
