‘Sack the clown’, ‘Complete joke’ – Plenty of Ipswich fans react to latest club statement

‘Club statement’ usually means something along the lines of a manager sacking and, at Ipswich Town, it seems some fans are waiting for just that.

The Tractor Boys should have been one of the stronger outfits in League One this season, but when the action was curtailed after March 13th, they were outside the top six. With the season ending as it has, it means a successive campaign outside of the top two divisions. It is an unprecedented failure in the eyes of many fans, who tend to point the finger in the direction of one man; Paul Lambert.

Owner Marcus Evans has spoken out about the end of the season, but instead of it containing what some fans want to hear, he’s revealed he wanted to play on (obviously) but that he understood the complexities of the issue for some other clubs.

“Personally I think there were other safe alternatives to the way things have worked out, certainly with so many clubs in with a chance of finishing in the Play-Off places if the season had continued,” wrote Evans on the club’s official site.

“A decision had to be made though and while we don’t agree with the outcome, we do fully understand that the cost of finishing the season for many clubs was prohibitive.”

Whilst that might be an attempt at transparency to appease the fans, they immediately took to social media to respond, appearing to want not words from the owner and a desire to play on, but action to change a situation in the dugout they feel is holding them back. The pick of their angry responses is below.
