‘We need you’ – These Plymouth fans send message to 26-y/o following promotion

Yesterday might not have seen any action on the field, but it was a huge day for Ryan Lowe’s Plymouth Argyle, who earned their League One place back at the first time of asking.

The season was curtailed with them in third place, resulting in an immediate return to the third-tier. It sparked jubilation in the Devon town, with the Smeaton Tower lit up in green and white to mark the occasion. It also gives them the title of ‘Pride of Devon’, at least until the play-offs, where Exeter City are hoping to join them in League One.

Plymouth, the biggest city in England not to have hosted top-flight football, have benefited this season from the experience of Ryan Lowe, who got Bury promoted little over a year ago. He brought in a group of players from the Shakers, including playmaker Danny Mayor and full-back Callum MacFadzean. MacFadzean, who penned a one-year deal last summer, tweeted his delight at the promotion last night.

“Greeen Armyyyyy!! Devon is Green!” he proclaimed, which doubtless delighted supporters of Argyle. However, with a new deal on the table, the 26-year-old does face something of an uncertain future. The Pilgrims have been ambitious in trying to keep their squad together,Β Niall Canavan, Conor Grant, Luke Jephcott, Ryan Law, Klaidi Lolos, McFadzean, Adam Randell, Antoni Sarcevic, Gary Sawyer, and Scott Wootton have all been offered new deals.

Supporters are certainly keen to see the former Sheffield United and Kilmarnock man remain at Home Park, as you’ll see below in their responses to his tweet.
