‘If you dream hard enough’ – Plenty of Lincoln City fans to exciting club announcement

Lincoln City have broken the gloom for supporters with an exciting kit announcement which seems to have gone down well.

With a lack of news around at the moment, every action a club takes is going to attract more attention and the League One side seemed to have raised their fans’ spirits with a double kit drop in their club shop.

They’ve had their current kit partner create two vintage shirts, one from 1983-85 and another from 1987-88. The 83-85 period wasn’t a classic in the club’s history, but this was the kit they last wore when mounting a successful bid to stay in the third-tier, as they seem to be doing this season. The second shirt celebrates promotion from the GM Vauxhall Conference at the first time of asking, the first club ever to do so.

Their announcement stated: “The first kit, released this morning at 9 am, celebrates the success from the 1987/88 season. 1987/88 was a memorable campaign that saw Colin Murphy guide the Imps back to the Football League at the first attempt, winning the GM Vauxhall Conference title with 82 points.

“The second shirt in the new collection is a remake of the 1984/85 jersey known for its red template with white sleeves and pinstriped design. This was worn famously by Gordon Hobson who scored 11 goals in all competitions during the 84/85 campaign.”

Despite the doom and gloom around the world at the moment, fans have been quick to react positively to the news. It seems that they now have a viable way of supporting the club through the challenging financial times, as well as being handed a chance to pick up two wildly popular shirts from the club shop in the process.
