‘I would wanna leave too’, ‘Disgrace’ – These Ipswich fans discuss 20-y/o’s performance v Fleetwood

Ipswich Town sank to their third successive defeat last night, further damaging their hopes of an immediate return to the second tier.

Paul Lambert’s side faced Fleetwood Town at Portman Road and despite several changes to the first team, including Andre Dozzell’s return to action, they failed to get the better of the Cod Army.

The game wasn’t exactly a thriller, the best chance came on the half-hour mark when Luke Chambers deflected a cross by Barrie McKay against his own post. That changed just before half time, Ched Evans playing a one-two with the impressive McKay before slotting home past Tomas Holy to give Fleetwood the lead, and ultimately the win.

Ipswich substitute Freddie Sears saw an effort deflected over the bar and later Jon Nolan’s shot was blocked, but Fleetwood held on for their tenth game unbeaten.

The mood was not comfortable at full time, with Dozzell rushing straight off the field and not acknowledging the angry home fans. That’s led to some calling him out on social media but much of the Blues support is divided and opinionated right now.

It’s not a good time to be an Ipswich Town fan, as these messages show.
