One of the transfer windows longest-running sagas finally concluded today when Peterborough United winger Marcus Maddison put pen to paper on a loan deal with Championship outfit Hull City.
The twenty-six-year-old will initially stay with the Tigers until the summer, but there is an option to make a move permanent once Maddison becomes a free agent at the end of the campaign.
The former Newcastle trainee has clocked up almost two hundred appearances for Posh since joining from Gateshead in 2014, scoring sixty-two goals and amassing an incredible seventy-five assists.
With only six months left on his deal, Maddison’s form was always going to generate interest from higher up the football pyramid, and most Posh fans have been resigned to losing the playmaker for some time.
Nonetheless, negativity towards Maddison was apparent when Posh fans took to social media to react to the news.
While many supporters were willing to offer their best wishes to their former favourite, some felt Maddison’s perceived selfish attitude was harming their team’s push for League One promotion and were happy to see him leave.
It is clear Maddison is a character who divides opinion, and it will be fascinating to see how he adapts to a higher level of football, with some Posh fans claiming he is overrated.
Here is a selection of responses to the news by Peterborough fans on Twitter.

Glad his gone but bad deal for posh, will go for free and we'll have to carry on paying him a wage. So overrated 👋👋

I know it’s ended on a bit of a sour note but let’s not forget he was an excellent player for us for a number of years.
