Experienced Blackpool defender Curtis Tilt is poised to sign for Rotherham United, as reported by journalist Matt Scrafton.

Scrafton is the respected football writer for the Blackpool Gazette, and he tweeted the story this morning.

The Millers were keen on signing the twenty-eight-year-old in the summer, and following an injury to Clark Robertson, they have made a new move to sign the powerful centre-back.

Tilt is in the final year of his contract at Bloomfield Road after joining from Wrexham in 2017. He’s made over one hundred appearances for the Seasiders across all competitions, including twenty-four this campaign.

Reports suggest Rotherham have made a bid of around £100,000 for the defender as they look to bolster their squad for the run-in that could see the League One leaders book a return to the Championship at the first attempt.

Blackpool have been busy in the market with eight incomings and ten departures, including the controversial exit of the popular Callum Guy, who joined League Two Carlisle United yesterday.

However, If Tilt does depart, the Seasiders will likely need to move for another defender as they would be left with Ben Heneghan and Jordan Thorniley as their only fit central defenders.

Our View

Rotherham is an excellent fit for Tilt, he’s strong and aggressive and would easily fit into the powerful Millers line up.

If he does go, many disappointed Blackpool fans will be once again be wondering what is going on at the club.

His departure surely signals the fact that after a good start, the club feels it now has no chance of promotion.
