Oxford United are interested in Oldham Athletic defender Tom Hamer as reported by journalist Alan Nixon.
Nixon is usually a reliable source of transfer information, and he tweeted the story this morning.
Oxford. Keen on Hamer at Oldham. Right back or centre half. Would be a buy. Blackpool seem to have gone elsewhere …

Hamer is a product of the Oldham Athletic Academy and is a popular figure at Boundary Park, having been with the club since 2015.
The twenty-year-old has made sixty-five league outings since making his debut in 2017. He signed a new contract in the summer, tying him to the club until 2022, but with reports claiming the Latics are experiencing financial difficulties, they may well be ready to sell one of their brightest talents.
Hamer was linked with Peterborough earlier in the month and speculation over his future at the struggling League Two outfit saw Blackpool mentioned as another possible suitor but according to Nixon, they are now looking elsewhere.
Our View
Hamer is an outstanding prospect, and he will only get better.
For a young player to have over sixty appearances to his name at centre-back in League Two is rare and a marker as to how good he is.
He’s strong, dominant in the air and dangerous at set-pieces.
If Oxford sign him, they will have an excellent player on their hands.
