‘Cheer up lad’ – Plenty of Crewe fans react to the latest club announcement

Crewe have signed Middlesborough forward Stephen Walker on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The nineteen-year-old has made eight appearances for Boro this season, including a start against Crewe in the EFL Trophy back in August.

The youngster is highly-regarded at the Championship outfit having emerged from their well-respected academy. He signed a new four and a half year deal with the club in January 2019.

He was immediately sent out on loan, spending the second half of last season with Mik Dons, making seven substitute outings and helping MK to secure League Two promotion.

Walker is also a regular for England at youth level, catching the eye with six goals in nine appearances for the Under-19s.

Crewe are third and flying high in League Two with a real chance of a return to League One, and many of their fans were delighted with a signing that gives boss David Artell more forward options in his young squad.

However, some could not help light-heartedly pointing out he did not exactly look pleased to be at the club in the publicity shot announcing his arrival.

Here is a small selection of responses to the signing, which further strengthens Crewe’s promotion prospects.
