‘Can he also play up front?’ – These Bristol Rovers fans react to the club’s latest addition

Bristol Rovers have signed Cian Harries from Championship outfit Swansea City for an undisclosed fee according to the club’s official website.

Swansea’s official website site claims it was a free transfer with a sell-on clause, but they do agree the defender has signed permanently, with Rovers stating he’s signed a two and a half year deal at the Memorial Stadium.

The twenty-two-year-old began his career at Aston Villa before joining the academy at Coventry City aged fourteen. He signed his first professional contract with the Sky Blues in 2015, making his league debut at the end of the 2015/16 campaign.

He failed to become a first-team regular but still impressed enough to earn a move to Swansea City for an undisclosed fee in 2017.

He made six outings for Swansea, including two in the Championship.

Harries spent the first half of the season on loan in the Dutch top flight with Fortuna Sittard, making eight appearances.

 

Rovers fans were generally positive about their latest addition when they took too social media. Most saw the potential in the player and welcomed him to the club. Many fans were also impressed with the young defender’s recent experience in Holland.

However, with speculation hotting up that their main man, Jonson Clarke-Harris looks set to leave the club, some expressed disappointment the club has yet to sign a striker.
