Bolton hopeful of taking 23-y/o defender from Premier League club

Bolton Wanderers are hopeful of signing Kean Bryan from Sheffield United as reported by journalist Alan Nixon.

According to Nixon, interest in the versatile defender from Championship outfit Charlton Athletic has now wained, leaving the door open for the Trotters.

A loan move seems the most likely outcome for Bryan who signed a three year deal with the Blades in 2018 following his release by Manchester City.

The twenty-three-year-old has struggled with injury and failed to break through at Bramall Lane, making only four outings in cup competitions.

The recent arrival of Jack Robinson has pushed Bryan further down the pecking order, and Bolton could offer him the chance to get back to playing regular football.

While at Man City the England youth international enjoyed loan spells at Oldham Athletic and Bury, making thirty-eight league starts in total.

Comfortable in defence or midfield, Bryan would potentially add versatility to Keith Hill’s struggling League One outfit.

Our View

Bryan needs to start playing, and it is obvious he is not part of Chris Wilder’s plans.

A drop down a couple of levels is what he needs, and he would definitely get the chance to shine at Bolton.

By all accounts he never recovered his confidence after injury, and therefore could be a player with something to prove.

If that’s the case, he could be a decent signing for the Trotters.
