Bristol Rovers interested in 21-y/o Wolves striker

Wolves are looking to loan out striker Benny Ashley-Seal, and Bristol Rovers are amongst a host of League One clubs interested in taking the youngster according to the Express and Star.

The twenty-one-year-old was left out of Wolves Under-23s’ 2-2 draw with Liverpool at Molineux last night with a view to him making a move before the window closes tomorrow.

The young target man has made ten Premier League 2 appearances this season, scoring an impressive five goals. He’s also bagged three goals in three EFL Trophy games. However, despite some excellent performances, he’s not part of Wolves first-team reckoning, and they hope a loan for the rest of the season will allow him to play some regular football and aid his development.

Since joining from Norwich City in 2017, Ashley-Seal has made four first-team appearances for Wolves, all in cup competitions. He’s made Nuno Espirito Santo’s Premier League matchday squad six times this season without making an appearance.

He signed a new three and a half year deal with the club in January 2019 and any move would be his first away from Molineux.

Our View

Not being an expert on the Wolves academy, it is difficult to comment, but from his stats alone, it looks like the youngster knows where the goal is.

Reports suggest he’s strong and powerful and his pace could cause a problem in the third tier.

Rovers are an obvious link, especially if they decide to cash in on interest in sought-after Jonson Clarke-Harris

It will be a fascinating twenty-four hours at the Memorial Stadium.
