Cambridge United’s poor form continued on Saturday after a capitulation saw bottom of the table Stevenage leave the Abbey Stadium with all three points after an emphatic 4-0 win.
The win moved Stevenage off the bottom of League Two, but It’s now one win in eight for United during a downward spiral that has been marked by sides in poor form changing their fortunes in a match against the U’s. Mansfield hadn’t won in eight league games, Macclesfield hadn’t won in nine and Stevenage hadn’t won since October yet they’ve all beaten Cambridge in recent weeks.
The U’s decent early season form means they still sit in mid-table. Still, the team’s rapid deterioration in performance is starting to more than worry supporters who were not shy in voicing their displeasure when they took to social media to react to the result.
Many feel the club should sack experienced manager Colin Calderwood, with some suggesting plenty of his players should follow him out the door.
Having seen experienced trio, Marc Richards, Elliot Ward and Gary Deegan recently leave the club, with little prospect of any replacements, many fans feel a slide towards relegation is inevitable unless the club makes a change in the technical area and completely revamp the squad.
Here is a selection of angry responses to the result on Twitter.

Dear me. Does nobody within the club give a d*mn? I've seen more enthusiasm and determination on the local recreation ground.

1. Walsall 6 consecutive defeats until they played us
2. Orient no wins in 8 until they played us
3. Mansfield no wins in 9 until they played us
4. Macclesfield no wins in 9 until they played us
5. Stevenage no wins away from home all season, bottom, until they play us.

Disgraceful is a massive understatement. There are no words that could possibly describe how poor that was.

Daniels, Strang and half this team need to go, out of their depth!

Season written off in December, slim chance of relegation, players with nothing to play for, no sign of imminent signings, a club without any money (again) who probably can't afford to change their manager (again) or back him (again). #TheNextChapter

“We’ll win a game, don’t know where, don’t know when, but I know we’ll win a game some Sat-ur-day” !!!!
Seriously, this is beyond a joke. The next win will probably be in the National League as the U’s have completely forgotten how to win. I didn’t think I would even be thinking about the “R” word this season but at the rate we are going we will be stranded on 31 points and with the inevitable conclusion. I cannot believe that the Board CAN BE SO, SO NAIVE!!!!!!!!!!!
