Salford City are ‘offering £5000’ a week towards Will Griggs wages in a bid to sign him on loan this month as reported by the Shields Gazette.
The League Two outfit are currently thirteenth in the table nine points from the playoffs. However, they have already been busy strengthening this window, signing striker Tom Elliott from Millwall and former Lincoln City pair Michael O’Connor and Bruno Andrade. Reports emerged over the weekend the big-spending Ammies were not finished and are now ready to end Will Griggs Sunderland nightmare, in a move that would undoubtedly raise a few eyebrows.

Grigg has scored only eight goals in forty-eight appearances across all competitions since his big-money move from Wigan Athletic last January and it now appears his unhappy time on Wearside might be coming to an end.
Despite relatively low attendances, Salford are backed financially by the famous Manchester United ‘Class of 92’ and millionaire businessman Peter Lim. While their rapid rise through the leagues has been portrayed as a fairytale by elements of the media, their ability and willingness to spend money has made them somewhat unpopular amongst many football supporters.
This bad feeling was apparent when fans took to social media to react to the speculation and while it was fair to say many Sunderland fans would welcome the deal, fans of other club’s were not happy, criticising Salford and their owners for trying to buy promotion
Here is a selection of responses to the rumours on Twitter.
this is just ridiculous…

Means nothing in League Two, the Neville brothers, Scholes etc donated £2.5m, they don't need to pay it back etc as it's not a loan or whatever, it's like they've had a lottery win.

The sooner they get to the championship the better then the rest of us can return to normality.

Bruno Andrade trebling his wages to sign for Salford and potentially Will Grigg going there aswell, you can tell the owners have recently pumped another 2.5million in 🙄

Peter Lim is the billionaire behind Salford and also Valencia let him spend his money and get them out of the way it's pocket money for him.

Only team in Division 4 who could afford him but if it means getting him out of our squad I’m game! #SAFC
