Tranmere Rovers stayed out of the bottom three of League One on goal difference yesterday, despite a 1-0 defeat against Lincoln City.
The Super White Army were the better team in a low-key first half, but saw Corey Blackett-Taylor sent off after 40 minutes for a moment of stupidity. After getting a yellow card for barging Jorge Grant over, he then got in the way of Neal Eardley’s quick free kick to earn a petulant second.
That decision swung the balance of play and Tranmere were forced to defend for the next fifty minutes. They did so fairly well until John Akinde lashed home in the 77th minute to give the Imps a seven-point advantage over the side that came up with them last season.
It leaves Tranmere tied on points with MK Dons, both teams are on 17 points and either side of the dreaded relegation line. With Bolton suffering struggles still and Southend woeful, the battle does seem to be on to avoid one relegation spot.
Whilst Tranmere fans are not entirely convinced that they’ve got what it takes to stay up, it was the red card which brought about the angriest comments. They were perhaps the better side and on course for a point before his moment of madness.
These supporters are not happy with the former Aston Villa man, not one bit.
Does that mean he gets Christmas off?

The lad’s head is all over the place. Could be a brilliant player if he was even medicore off the ball.

One of our only players who creates chances out for the festive period. Great stuff

Four minutes between two yellows. Surely he should have known better

The fact that I was thinking how many red cards weve had this season just before me phone buzzes red card typical . Players need to get a grip!

Totally agree.
This season’s discipline has been a major worry.
Deal with it sooner rather than later.
Fines, and bigger fines.
It’s costing us too much.— Bibby (@7HTAS) December 14, 2019
Ridiculous how many of our red cards have been through our own ill discipline. You get a yellow and then give the ref an easy decision to send you off is criminal. 2nd time this season he has been sent off for poor discipline

Cause he stopped the free kick from being taken quickly. He’s an idiot.
