‘This account is a parody surely?’ – These Sunderland fans react after latest social media post

Another afternoon at the Stadium of Light came and went without a win, and once again the long-suffering Black Cats fans are out in force.

Things seem to have taken a turn for the worst since Phil Parkinson came in. Under Jack Ross, they were drawing games, a situation that looked to threaten their promotion aspirations. Under the new manager, a draw is seen as a decent result. By some, at least.

It’s certainly been seen that way by their social media team, who have put out a tweet celebrating their goal in the 1-1 draw with Blackpool this weekend. Chris Maguire, doubtless staying off the McDonalds now, delivered a corner which Charlie Wyke converted to cancel out Matty Virtue’s opener for the visitors.

Perhaps that should have sparked them into life, but it didn’t. Another average display, at best, left fans feeling empty and desolate as they made their way home. Once they looked on social media from the comfort of their living room, they found the tweet seemingly revelling in managing to score once, in the third-tier, against Blackpool. At home.

That hasn’t gone down well, much like the social media team’s input all season. No, it’s fair to say this collection of Sunderland fans are well and truly hacked off with life under Phil Parkinson.
