Sunderland and Leeds amongst clubs hunting red-hot Championship prospect

Sunderland and Leeds are amongst the clubs thought to be keeping tabs on Rayhaan Tulloch, according to the Daily Mail.

Reports surfaced this week suggesting that the Black Cats could take West Brom’s highly-rated former England Under 18 international on loan this winter, with a host of other clubs keen on adding him to their ranks on a permanent basis.

The youngster has caught the eye as part of the Baggies’ youth setup his season and as well as being watched for possible permanent moves, clubs are eyeing a swoop for him in a loan deal. West Brom are thought to want to get him some senior experience, making League One a possible destination.

Premier League sides Aston Villa, Bournemouth, Southampton and Newcastle United are all keeping an eye on the striker, which has seen him recently called into West Brom’s under-23 side. Leeds, Stoke and Wigan are also thought to be watching closely.

Tulloch can play as a central striker as well as either wing and was first drafted into Albion’s first team under former boss Alan Pardew when just 16.

Our View

The obvious next step for Tulloch is a loan move into League One. The top-flight sides won’t be offering a loan and it’s highly unlikely West Brom would want to pass him on to Leeds, Stoke or Wigan. Besides, if he isn’t a Championship striker yet, how would a move to those clubs help?

That will leave Sunderland in pole position for a loan move, but they won’t be the only club to be watching on. Depending on the fee, other League One clubs will surely be keen to offer the exciting young talent a stage on which to stake a claim for a first-team spot with the Baggies.
