‘How bad does it have to get?’ – Plenty of Portsmouth fans react to latest devastating defeat

As the clock ticked over from normal time to injury time at Kingsmeadow this afternoon, Pompey fans were not happy.

They’d seen their side on top for much of their encounter with Wimbledon, but show a certain wastefulness in front of goal which has been their trademark over recent games. It was a time to feat for Kenny Jackett who would be the target of abuse in the event of a stalemate.

Then, 3 minutes into injury time and with his side having just 37% of possession, Terell Thomas scored. AFC Wimbledon snatched the unlikely victory.

The anger was obvious from the away end, Pompey’s lacklustre end to the previous season has carried over into the current campaign and they’re now 17th in the table with just three wins in 11 matches.

Wimbledon started the day in the relegation zone and their win ensured they finish it above the bottom three, at least until Accrington Stanley play tomorrow. They’re expecting to spend their season looking over their shoulder, but Portsmouth fans were not.

They host Lincoln City on Tuesday and it would upset a few of their supporters if Kenny Jackett even got to see that fixture from the dugout. They’re incandescent with rage, as you’ll read below.

  1. This gets more and more embarrassing as each week goes by , he stands on the sideline with no passion at least show a bit of anger or enthusiasm at the results , make it at least look like you care .
His time is definitely up now the results last season did not represent how bad we were playing , it just covered it up and now our luck has run out .
From a pissed off Pompey supporter of 50+ years .
