Grimsby Town’s early-season promise appears to have faded as they were well beaten by Leyton Orient at Blundell Park this afternoon.
The result took Orient above the Mariners and carried on a miserable run for Michael Jolley’s side. They’ve won just two of their last 12 matches, with four defeats on the bounce after their promising 3-1 victory at Exeter City.
Four-goal Matt Green and midfielder Elliott Whitehouse both dropped to the bench as the manager rung the changes, but his side trailed from 11 minutes onwards after Dan Happe’s opener. Josh Coulson added a second before half time to give Carl Fletcher a huge boost in his first game in charge.
Grimsby enjoyed more possession but struggled to make it count and the visitors added some real gloss to the scoreline in the last ten minutes, James Alabi putting away a third before Josh wright bagged from the penalty spot.
It was a damning blow for the Lincolnshire side, who have slipped to 14th in the table, three points outside the top seven, but seven behind Forest Green in sixth.
These supporters are not happy, wondering if perhaps it’s time for the manager to be replaced.
Shameful

Jolley sacked, fed up of his tinkering and clueless tactics and team selections… get rid before it’s too late..

Stop changing the team every week! The squad is all over the shop! Nobody knows their place!

Not good enough. Yet again we r 2 down before we threaten their goal today before we loss by 4. Worrying results at the moment, not defending well enough, not creating enough and just not turning up until the 2nd half. Roll on tuesday #GTFC

No lessons learnt from last season. Going on a losing run yet again. Early season promise has really gone out of the window. Another shite season ahead
