Three EFL fixtures you have to have on your accumulator this weekend

Stevenage v Grimsby AWAY WIN

If you’re looking for a cheeky one form League Two, you’d do worse than picking the mariners to beat Stevenage.

They’ve been on a run of decent form and were desperately unlucky to lose 1-0 to Mansfield last weekend. They bossed the game and should have had all three points, but for a rather suspect refereeing performance.

Away from home, they’re seeing a return of 1.57 goals per game from an xG of 1.24, meaning they’re clinical when they get chances. Matt Green has been a revelation for them, as has Elliot Whitehouse who recently returned from a year out with injury.

As for their opponents, they’re struggling for goals. They’ve only averaged 0.70 goals per game at home, failing to score in three of their six matches at home in the league and one in two of their cup games. Not only that, they’ve failed to keep a clean sheet at home and are unlikely to bounce back and win a game if they go behind.

Grimsby will be like a wounded animal after their perceived injustice from last weekend and they’re likely to get their promotion assault back on track at Stevenage. They won 3-0 on their last away trip, that was against table-toppers Exeter City, so expect them to triumph here. The very brave amongst you might go for BTTS ‘no’, given the home side’s struggles.
