Worrying Port Vale injury news emerges ahead of Orient clash

Port Vale midfielder Tom Conlon is going to be out for ‘4-5 weeks’ with medial knee ligament damage, with Vale hunting their first away win of the season tomorrow.

Journalist Phil Bowers confirms that Conlon, who came off against Plymouth Argyle a fortnight ago, will miss the trip to Orient as well as most of October as his side look to cement their place in the top half of the table.

The 23-year-old had started eight League Two fixtures prior to his injury, but he’ll now watch on from the stands as John Askey looks to improve on two disappointing campaigns for Valiants.

He’s not the only player likely to miss out on tomorrow’s encounter. Winger David Amoo, a summer signing from Cambridge United, is also not going to feature.

There is some good news for Vale fans though; Manny Oyeleke is fit again after coming off the bench against Macclesfield in midweek.

Our View

This isn’t great news for Vale; they’ve shown flashes of improvement this season but they need to keep their best players fit.

Tom Conlon is one who has caught our eye at times and is a hard-worker in their midfield. David Amoo adds a flash of inspiration and unpredictability too, both will be sorely missed.

Orient haven’t had a great start to the season, wholly understandable, but it’s a great chance for Vale to get an away win at last.
