‘Not happy’, ‘Good luck’ – These fans react as Bolton Wanderers make key appointment

Bolton Wanderers began their rebuild yesterday by bringing in former Rochdale boss Keith Hill as their new manager.

The Trotters narrowly avoided expulsion from the EFL this week when the takeover by Football Ventures was finally completed. With Phil Parkinson having already left the club, they desperately needed a new man at the helm, ready to make a raft of signings tomorrow.

The Trotters are currently on minus 11 points, having grabbed a single draw against Coventry with their youth players. Since then they’ve regularly conceded five goals, their last four matches ending in five-goal drubbings.

Kevin Nolan, sacked by Notts County last season, had been a favourite of the fans, but the club have instead gone with Hill. He was something of a legend at Rochdale for many years, guiding them out of the basement division on two occasions.

Last season, his time came to an end at Spotland. They looked perilously close to dropping out of League One and finally cut their ties with Hill.

He’s now looking to rebuild the broken Trotters side, but has just over 24 hours to bring in a lot of senior players.

His appointment hasn’t been warmly received by these fans on Twitter, despite them coming close to losing their league status last week.
