Plymouth Argyle have signed Peterborough United midfielder George Cooper on a season-long loan.
The twenty-two-year-old began his career at Crewe, breaking into the first-team in 2014 at the age of seventeen. He went on to the make one hundred and forty-two appearances across all competitions for the Railwaymen, finding the net fifteen times, before signing for Posh in January 2018 on a three-and-a-half-year contract for an undisclosed fee.
Cooper has made forty-two Peterborough appearances so far but has fallen down the pecking order at the club since the arrival of Darren Ferguson in the manager’s office, and he’s yet to feature in the first team this season.
After an excellent summer squad rebuild, Plymouth are currently second in the table following a promising start to life in League Two, and the latest signing reunites Pilgrims boss Ryan Lowe with a former teammate from his time at Crewe.
Fans soon took to social media to react to the signing, with most Pilgrims fans delighted and many of their rivals already conceding promotion to the Green Army with the August fixtures still not completed.
