Rotherham have signed Brentford winger Chiedozie Ogbene on a three-year-deal for an undisclosed fee.
The twenty-two-year-old joined the Bees in January 2018 from Limerick following a successful trial. He signed a three and a half year deal, but he’s failed to establish himself at Griffin Park and spent the first half of last season on loan at League Two Exeter City.
He made eighteen appearances for the Grecians, starting six games before making a handful of substitute appearances for the Bees in the Championship.
Although he found his playing opportunities limited at Brentford, many Bees fans were happy with what they saw from the young winger who has been on Millers boss Paul Warne’s radar for most of the summer, and they soon took to social media to sing his praises. Indeed many fans felt the youngster was not given a fair crack of the whip in West London and were sorry to see him leave.
From the following selection of responses from Brentford fans to the news the winger was leaving the club on Twitter, Millers fans can expect a fast, raw, exciting talent with loads of potential to be gracing the wings at the New York Stadium for the next three years.
Such a shame… never really given a chance to prove himself. Best of luck with the move!!

Shame he never got given a decent chance at anything. Sums up a lot with this club and some of the players that could be made into good ones

He got about 20min of first team football. So can't say for sure
He'll out pace anyone. Probably best suited for inside forward as he got a few shots on target

Sorry to see him go. He’s still very raw with lots of work still needed technically but he has bags of potential. At his best he’s reminiscent of the footballing equivalent of Jonah Lomu. Nice guy too. All the best, Chie! 🐝🐝🐝
