Sunderland’s encounter with Burton Albion on Saturday, September 7th has been postponed, as revealed by their official club website.
The match was due to be played during the international period and the Black Cats Sunderland have received three international call-ups, resulting in the fixture has been postponed.
Conor McLaughlin, Jon McLaughlin and Tom Flanagan have been called up to their international squads, with the Brewers also having two players missing. Nathan Broadhead selected for Wales U21s and Liam Boyce on international duty with Northern Ireland.
Burton could also lose on-loan Manchester United stopper Kieran O’Hara, who has been selected in the provisional Republic of Ireland squad.
Sunderland fans have been reacting on Twitter, convinced that last year’s problems were caused by a fixture pile-up. They had matches postponed over the international breaks last time out, as well as EFL trophy commitments leading to a huge backlog.
Not only that, but fans are seemingly fed up with the frustration of rearranging games at short notice, as you’ll see from their responses below.
Let the fixture pile up commence. Too many rescheduled games in too short a period of time is exactly why we fell away last season. Obviously whoever makes the decision has learned bugger all.

As a season card holder based down south this will mean another midweek fixture I can’t attend! Thanks 👍🏻🤬

So all we’ve lost is McLaughlin , when we have burge as a capabale keeeper.
Flanagan, who doesn’t play and we have countless defenders
And other Mclaughlin, whom we have players that could cover.
What a disgrace

Gutted. I'm up that weekend for the Great North Run and was looking forward to going to the game on the Saturday. Never mind hopefully the break will help the players after a hectic start

I thought it was because el brassico (Bolton v Bury) was supposed to be on Sky and they needed a replacement!

tbh I said the same thing last night until Matty reminded me 🙄
As soon as we're out the cups the better for me this season, everything is around promotion, nothing else will do.— Blah Blah Blah (@old_punky) August 28, 2019
Why would any of you want us to play with our back ups? Instead of postponing a match..crazy. I want a full available squad with my international quality players available

Great, will save us travelling lot a fortune as hotels etc., for GNR weekend extortionate, still have my season ticket even though live 200+ miles away. GNR always causes havoc for those fans travelling South locally as well. Play with your full squad.
Coming over from Holland that weekend to see the family and it finally coincides with a homr game. Can now try to cancel the ticket that I ordered!! KLOTEN !! (dutch)
You could some supporters that we are going to sign Messy, and they would still find something to moan about.
